Featured Wedding: Erin and Brian Miller

Last week, I gave you a “sneak peak” into our featured bride and groom…Erin and Brian.  I am so excited to share with you the wedding highlights in professional film captured by Cami from Cami Wade Photography.

Erin and Brian also took some time to discuss their wedding details,  the team she hired, their favorite moments, and share them with our St. Louis Engaged Couples!

They just “Got Hitched” on June 4, 2011, so the details were fresh in their minds!

Meet Tami, from Perfect Day Weddings &  Events, LLC (www.perfectdayweddings.net).  She was the wedding planner and coordinator for Erin and Brian’s wedding and reception.  I asked Tami:

Explain how unique and special this wedding was to you and any other “tidbits” that you might like other St. Louis Wedding Insider Brides to know: Erin and Brian’s wedding was a fun take on modern vintage.  Erin, who is a high school art teacher, loves thinking outside the box.  She wanted an earthy vintage, but colorful summer wedding.  To help her accomplish this look at her outdoor ceremony site, we used colorful ribbons that streamed down from the gazebo under which Erin and Brian were married.  Erin’s retro 1950′s wedding dress and fascinator brought one back in time, but her twist on a wooden flower bouquet (by AccentsandPetals on etsy.com) showcased the latest trends we are seeing with bridal bouquets.

Instead of flowers, each of the bridesmaids held a colorful clutch that matched the jewelry that Erin handmade for each girl.  The reception was held in the Barrel Room at Crown Valley Winery and flowed out onto the patio and under a tent.  For an earthy vineyard touch, we usd twine and clothespins to hold the escort cards which were inside a small manilla coin envelope.  These escort cards doubled as a wedding favor with each envelope also containing a wine glass charm for the guests.  The charms were beer bottle caps decopaged with images of 50′s pin up girls and filled with resin.  Each guest’s first name initial was then modpodged on the top, and the rings for the charms were finished with colorful beads.  The reception table centerpieces were made up of modern vases in various heights; each containing a candle, with floating candle vases wrapped in burlap.  Small colorful glass bird tealight holders completed the centerpiece as a unique way to add a touch of nature and color to the table.  Erin and Brian created an exceptionally beautiful wedding that left a memorable impression on all who attended.

Tell us about your “Salt Ceremony” during your wedding? The Salt Ceremony was important to us, because of Brian’s Irish Heritage, which he is very enthusiastic about; as well as the Irish Wedding Blessing that was read during the ceremony.  Having two vessels of white salt, instead of colorful sand, indicates that once the two containers are poured into one, there is no way to distinguish one person’s salt from the other, therefore, making the couple inseparable.

Where did your purchase your adorable Tea-Length Wedding Gown and accessories? I actually looked high and low online for a vintage 50′s tea-length dress.  I finally found the perfect dress on ebay for $200!  It did need a little bit of altering, so Heavenly Stitches in Chesterfield did an amazing job.  They took the back out of the dress, re-did the under slip, added tulle, and some other sturctural tweaks.  The beautiful sash and the flowers on my hair were handmade by Floralworld on Etsy.com.  My jewelry included my mom’s pearl necklace from her own wedding, and these amazing moonstone guage earrings were handmade by a lady named Stasia, who runs an Etsy store called GaugedByStasia.  Any girl with guaged ears will apprciate this store!  It is so hard to find really nice guage earrings, and Stasia’s turned out perfect!

What about Brian and his groomsmen?  Where did they get their tuxedo’s? Brian decided on a simple black suit for him and his groomsmen from Men’s Wearhouse, paired with Converse Hightop Tennishoes, and a black skinny tie.

Your Budget was $12,000.00.  Did you stay on within your Budget? We pretty much stayed within a thousand of the budget.  I spent a lot of time researching every vendor online to find the best value with the best product, and it worked out amazingly well!  Really, the only way that it was possible was that I DIY’d almost everything….(continued below)

Adorable Bridesmaid Dresses: Nordstrom Rack

From the bridesmaids jewelry, to the centerpieces, Brian’s boutonniere, the yard signs, the cake plated, the invitations, the escort cards, the “just married” baner, the wine charm favors, the cake topper…(continued below)

the fabric flowers for the bridesmaids clutches, the table numbers, the menu’s for the rehearsal dinner, the place cards, my garter, EVERYTHING.  I probably put in three to six hours a day for six straight months.  But I had SO much fun doing everything!  And seeing the end result was so awesome, and so personal.  It was definitely a unique event!

Although I did not hand-make the bridesmaid’s clutches, they were handmade by a lady who runs a store on Etsy called ModDot Textiles.  She also made the pocket squares for the groomsmen that matched the ladies clutches.  She had a huge selection of fabrics, and was so awesme to work with!

What a BEAUTIFUL, modern take on Vintage!  Erin and Brian, thank you for allowing us to feature your wedding!  Thank you Tami, from Perfect Day Weddings and Events, for introducing me to Erin and Brian.  Your work and assistance to Erin and Brian was Fabulous!

And…Thank you Cami, from Cami Wade Photography, for sharing with all of the St. Louis Wedding Insider Brides Erin and Brian’s beautiful wedding! Your artistic eye and professionalism was incredible.  I had difficulty in selecting which photos to choose!
